The Photographer Joseph Hughes opened a studio in Bromsgrove in June 1897 attracting the custom of local people and over the next ten years he built up a catalogue of at least 2000 glass negatives. It was these negatives that were passed to Mr. Bob Richardson in 1976.
Recently it became practical to scan these negatives and with the aid of a local heritage initiative grant we can now display them.
The Hughes Collection will be shown in a series of events throughout Bromsgrove in the next two years helping to create awareness in people of this archive of Victorian and Edwardian photographs.
We welcome you to The Hughes Collection.
